Mark Smith opened Dance Master Studio in Southport in 1987 and has run a successfull school of dance for more than 20 years. In June of 2009 he and his wife, Melissa, moved their studio location from 2210 East Southport Rd to 2002 East Southport Rd. Mark and Melissa took an existing building and transformed it into a dance facility that better meets the needs of their students and has allowed for tremendous growth. The Smith's dream and motivation has always been to provide their students and employees with the best facility, education, and service possible. When the opportunity presented itself, Mark and Melissa made the decision to join the Fred Astaire organization in February 2009. The organization is unparalleled, and the Smith's are thrilled to be a part of it. Most importantly, they are excited to extend the tremendous benefits to their staff and student body. Fred Astaire Dance Studios has developed the most efficient system of teaching ballroom/partnership dancing in the world. The teachers at Fred Astaire South are passionate about dance and are eager to help students reach their personal goals in many styles of dance. Dances taught include: Waltz, Fox Trot, Rumba, Salsa, Swing, Tango, Cha Cha and many more.
