The Gilley's first opened the old red barn in 1983 and started renting booths to dealers. Dan started building small barns so Flea Market dealers could leave the goods permanently. This led to opening the first new building in July 1989. The new mall had a waiting list and was full before it opened. He built the second building in 1991, it also filled with dealers within a year. The third building went up in 1992, fourth 1993. In 1995 Dave Hulse joined with Dan they built an adjoning Craft Mall, with a Coffee shop, connecting the buildings. Dave and Sandy opened the Craft Mall. Harold Wingler, and his famous "pie making" wife Connie, opened the Coffee shop. Sadly, Harold passed a few years back and now Gary Knight and Mike Carter, opened Best Floor Gallery, in place of the Coffee shop. BUT..... The history of Gilley's is not about buildings, it's about good memories. We enjoy seeing our friends and customers find a treasure from their past, hearing a grandparent explain to a grandchild what something is, or how it works. Over the past 30 years, I have enjoyed my friends and customers bringing their children to my mall. Now I'm seeing their Grandchildren coming! That's what it's all about! That and of course the fact I can show their Grandchild how to play a victrola and they can show me how to fix this ------ computer!!! Personally, I'll take the Victrola!!!
Simply the best place to go for vintage pieces!! You could spend hours in this HUGE facility, and still not see it all. If you're in the market for vintage furniture or other antiques, Gilley's is definitely a must-see!
