As someone who isn't all that crazy about sweets, what really got me to go in was the aesthetics. I love anything vintage inspired and the outside and inside decor was like stepping through a time portal or onto a movie set. The vibrant colors and fun decorations were fun and whimsical. It was Willie Wonka meets Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium. Once I was thoroughly impressed through my sense of sight, I walked in only to be pleasantly overwhelmed by the delicious aromas and the friendly staff (Illinois St. location). There were so many flavors to choose from that it took me a good ten minutes to choose one cupcake. I chose the Red Velvet cupcake with a name that contained Elvis. . . and it was AMAZING. The cake was moist and delicious, the chocolate chips were decadent and the icing was everything icing should be. I was mesmerized by every aspect of the bakery and I plan on making many visits back. Yesterday, July 19th, 2010 was my first visit to The Flying Cupcake and I was so impressed I immediately researched all I could about the bakery and am voting for them as Indy's best today July 20th, 2010. I hope at the very least that inspires you to make a visit and make yourself happy. If only they could develop a fat free cupcake that tastes as good as their current cupcakes. . .
